ART SAKE : ART BASEL 2012 LMNT

During Basel we hit up the Gentleman Jack event at LMNT which actually turned out to be the most memorable of our Basel experiences. The art was edgy and underground, yet mature and serious; the music was just beyond with a surprise set by Shock G and ScarFace; and the spectators were refreshingly original and stylish. This was definitely the place place to be.

LMNT is one of Miami's coolest cultural-defining destinations. We call it the heartbeat of the Wynwood Arts District. LMNT is where trend-setting artists of all genres go to work, showcase and thrive.
There's just something so distinctively different about it... no rules and nothing but possibilities.
Equipped with event space, a full production studio, and great gallery space, it's the place where COOL, creative things happen.
(NO WE DIDN'T GET PAID TO SAY SUCH NICE THINGS ABOUT THEM)

Visit LMNT during 2nd Saturday Gallery nights

ART SAKE : HELLO ART BASEL

The 11th edition of Art Basel is upon us.
For about a week, Miami will be taken over by artists.
From 3-9 December more than 2,000 artists from all around the world
will be showcasing their work at various locations throughout
Miami and Miami Beach. The event has grown so much that major fashion
brands like Louis Vuitton, Louboutin, Prada, Hermes and many more
are hopping on the Basel wagon. Pop-up shops and sponsored art projects
(such as the Heineken Mural Project) have emerged. Additionally,
There will be an unbelievable amount of events, openings, concerts, and parties
at the coolest hotels, performing arts centers, and venues throughout Miami.

One of the coolest event concepts is Where is Le Baron.
Here is a description we pulled from a recently published Interview Magazine article:

From Dec. 4-9, Le Baron will travel to a new venue each night,
with the location kept hush-hush until 6 p.m.
"Art Basel Miami is a moment to reunite the artists and people I love in a
new city at the same time," Saraiva explained.
"We wanted to avoid being mainstream. Le Baron is not about
being comfortable and easy—we like to find new things and new challenges."

The information will be released each night, digitally, via the Le Baron website,
Twitter, and Facebook, in addition to the venue's new "Where Is Le Baron?"
droid app. "Before, I would do a flyer to announce an event
and hand them out on the street," Saraiva recalled.
"Now you have to use an app. It is the new version of a flyer and a way to stay contemporary."

We hope to see you out and about at Basel!

GEEK CHIC : BOOMBOX DOCK

We recently spotted a pic of Jay Z carrying the iHome Stereo Boombox while boarding his yacht to St. Barts with the fam (must be nice). Although boomboxes are retro/vintage, iHome's design is actually fresh and modern. We're thinking it has something to do with the tone-on-tone treatment of the all knobs and buttons combined with the matte finish and the modern color choices: all black everything or neon pink.

Lasonic also makes their own version of retro boombox docks. They're not as stylish but still have major cool factor. The gold one is hot to def!
Boombox docks are a must have for a COOL summer.
Order your iHome boombox here and the Lasonic boombox here.

FASHION FILE : GLOW IN THE DARK PANTS

While so many beautiful collections graced the runways this week at NY Fashion Week Fall 2012, I had yet to find something with some real break-out COOL factor. In my fervent search... I stumbled upon Hudson Jeans LouLou Glow Stripe Pants, tuxedo-inspired pants which feature a stripe on each leg that glows under black light. I mean hello!!! This is what I was looking for! Now these aren't the first glow in the dark jeans on the market. Naked & Famous Denim created glow jeans where the entire pant glowed in the dark. I'm just not sure that I'd want to be walking around like I took a dip in a nuclear pool... know what I'm sayin'? I am a strong believer of: “too much of a good thing can go bad.” The Hudson LouLou pant gives you just enough of the glow effect with the side stripe. They even had a fabulous concept for the NYFW F2012 launch where they took over the NY meat-packing district with an event they called the “Phosphorecent Invasion.” It was a brilliant mélange of performance art and black-light rave which featured the glowing denim. That is so cool! Get your pair of these amazing creations at Hudson.
