eMerge Summit: Women, Innovation and Technology

You get the eMerge Women, Innovation and Technology Summit. You also get a room full of powerful and prominent women who are ready to change the gameWith thousands of people in attendance on May 4th2015 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, it was a great opportunity to network and engage with others in the field and see how women are making an impact in the world of technology and innovation.

The WIT Summit was a new initiative created by eMerge America and featured 3 Keynote Speakers, Martine Rothblatt, Abigail Posner and Genevieve Bell. Rothblatt is the Founder and served as Chairman and CEO of Sirius Satellite Radio, which is now referred to as Sirius XM.

Posner was added to the Google team 3 years ago and helps develop creative and strategic ideas for the digital space. Bell is Vice President and director of User Experience Research at the Intel Corporation. The Summit also had various breakout sessions facilitated by speakers in different aspects of innovation and technology, as well as, an impressive interview with a #CertifiedCOOL 11 year old fashion designer, Ariel Swedroe, who uses technology in her work.

1. GET TECHY. Women need to access technology in order to be attracted to the field. They need to engage more.

2. DON'T BE A HATER. The success of women should be the success of another. Celebrate each other.

3. BE THE PROBLEM-SOLVER. You will be remembered for one of two things... the problems you create or the problems you solved.

4. FEAR IS GOOD. When you experience fear in your career, it can be sign that you are moving in the right direction... the unknown... the unfamiliar. Fear can be healthy if it moves you to action.

5. POWER OF PERSISTENCE. You will access the power of persistence when you do things with love. Amen! This is one of our core principles at COOL.

FASHION FILES : FALL TRENDS ZARA LOOKBOOK

Zara Woman Fall 2012 Look Book

Zara Man Fall 2012 Look Book
Hooray! Our favorite fashion season is already coming upon us and we're featuring the best of Fall trends. Zara's Fall 2012 look book is oozing with Fall cool factor. We don't know if it's the photography or what, but the pieces look more lux and richer than ever. Leather and denim and peplums and studs... Zara's fall pieces are a style blazer's playground. We love the tone-on-tone treatments used in the more opulent looking pieces and the use of leather is so clean and simple.

Leather & denim major trend alert!
This season, leather is taking over in a major way! Mixed fabrics accented with leather panels, and leather trimmed peplums, dresses, pants and blazers will be all the rage... we're just going to have to do another post on just leather.

And then there's denim—which is forever coming back almost every season. This time, we'll be seeing high end designer denim footwear and handbags, new dress silhouettes made with denim, denim mixed with leather panels, and much more.

You can start populating your fall wardrobe with must have pieces. Shop Zara here.

COOL PEEPS : ZAHA HADID

Last night, we watched a great documentary called "London Games: Building the Park" which covered all of the genius work that has gone into creating the place that will forever be known as Olympic Park in London.

Among the many architects, designers and planning managers that were featured was the legendary Baghdad native, Zaha Hadid. She is the first woman to win The Pritzker Architecture Prize which honors a living architect whose built work consistently demonstrates exceptional talent and vision, produced significant contributions to humanity and the environment through the art of architecture.

The award-winning architect was chosen to create the Aquatic Centre which will be one of the permanent buildings constructed for the Olympics. When she revealed her design, it was so COOL that the Olympics committee decided to make it the official gateway to Olympic Park. The spectacular roof features a curved design inspired by the movement of water and it has become one of the most challenging engineering projects ever. It is supported by two concrete supports and a supporting wall. The 3000 ton piece was lifted in a single movement. The two outer structures that are on both sides of the curved center building are temporary and will be removed after the games.

Throughout her career, Zaha Hadid has won many competitions and she is now one of the most sought-after designers in the world. Needless to say, she has her place in architecture and product design. Last year, she was included in the Forbes list under "The World's 100 Most Powerful Women", justifying all the fame that her name began to be producing for major companies in the world.
