I just want to start this post by saying that nails are so important to finishing and polishing your look.
There is nothing that says you are unpolished than unkept nails (pun
totally intended). Your nails say so much about your sense of style and
overall aesthetic. Ok, now I can move on.
Over the past several years, a major nail trend has emerged in an explosive way. From crackle to gel nails, minx to nail wraps, and even textured to 3D nail art... there are endless ways for you to express yourself with your nails. Nail polish brands have finally started following the fashion color trends and are expanding their color offering. If you're anything like me, there are only certain types of nail polish brands that last on me: Butter and Essie and sometimes OPI. Personally, I prefer gel nails, minx, or the more affordable version of minx, nail wraps. I first got my nails minxed about 3 years ago for my birthday. Minx typically runs about $70 for a full mani. When done properly, they can last about 3 weeks on me. In between my nail splurges, I stumbled upon nail wraps. I first saw them in Sephora and then Sally Hansen introduced them into its line of nail products. Since then I've seen many other nail wrap brands emerge, but non as exciting as NAIL ROCK Designer Nail Wraps. From what I gather, NAIL ROCK has been around long before any other DIY nail wrap brand. NAIL ROCK provides some of the hottest designs I've seen on the market. I found this amazing product because I had been searching for a polish or wrap that had the same mirror finish as the gold minx that I had gotten in the past. NAIL ROCK was the only brand that had it. They've introduced LIP ROCK and EYE ROCK which are like press on eye liner designs and mirror lips... great for editorial use. NAIL ROCK is COOL because they just get it. ...I'm off to get a mani/pedi. Nail Rocks are a London based company. Order yours online at: nailrock.com.

FASHION FILE : PEPLUM POWER
![]() |
| Its Friday and for some of you it's also PAY DAY! While you're out blowing your rent money on fabulous fashions, be sure to pick up some peplums to add some pep to your spring wardrobe! Peplums are fun, flirty and feminine... the kind of F's I like (don't even go there). Here are some fun facts about peplums I borrowed from sunflowersandspears's blog: 1. Peplums originated from Greece and was the Greek word for tunic. 2. Peplum films are the title given to the genre of films which incorporate old Greek history and style. 3. In the 19th century a peplum referred to a short overskirt that was originally (and sometimes it is still) attached to the bottom of a jacket. It usually drops at the waist on a womans' body. 4. The purpose for a peplum was to add to a womans' figure and enhance her hips and therefore make her waist appear smaller. The peplum play suit is to die! ASOS certainly doesn't have a shortage of peplums. I love the structured, futuristic styles that give you a feminine look with a little edge that's cool. Happy shopping!!! TREND TALK : MINT COLOR TREND
![]() |
Mint Color inspiration by COOL Creative
Mint popped up on many fashion runways last Spring. Since then I've been obsessed with the color. This color is so versatile and can be carried over to any season. I love that a color so soft and subtle can make such a huge statement. The color pops beautifully on darker and olive skin tones... and give lighter skin tones an ethereal glow. Its one of those colors that I believe anyone can pull off.
Some of my minty picks include: Chanel Vernis in 407 Jade (hard to find however ESSE carries Mint Candy Apple which is absolutely fabulous), Lime Opaque Lipstick, Mint belt, watch, dress and more available at ASOS. One of my fave pass times is to play with my internal color wheel and Mint is such a fun color to experiment with. For a more summery feel: try mint with pop colors like hot pink and chartreuse. For a bold and interesting look, try it with a black and white pattern. If you want to keep it light and sweet, pair it with neutral colors. You can finish off your minty look with some shiny gold shoes. The matte feeling of the mint against the shiny gold texture will really give your look a rich quality. Fresh inspiration that's cool for any season. |
