SWIM WEEK: 2015 RECAP
THE BEST OF DAY 3: MARA HOFFMAN, MIKOH, L'SPACE
DAY 3: MARA HOFFMAN!!!
Mara Hoffman was one of the most anticipated shows of the week and she did not disappoint. Our Mara experience began with a behind-the-scenes look at the designer directing the models on the runway in one of her own 2015 creations. Hoffman is known for her obsessive attention to detail and this collection was no exception! Inspired bold prints travelled down the runway as guests applauded in delight. We found ourselves doing some major "shopping in our heads" as each look came out. Every single piece was #CertifiedCOOL.
Mara Hoffman’s Resort 2015 collection started with her recent travels to Guatemala, where she was inspired by the beautiful people, art, textiles, culture and landscape. By taking these inspirations and pushing the envelope in terms of design, the collection has become a world of its own defined by color, shapes, prints and light. This season features a fresh take for the brand as Hoffman introduces a predominantly reversible swim collection – she creates a new class of bikinis and one pieces by marrying bold prints on one side with striking solids on the other.
Standout pieces include a one piece rash guard swimsuit, front lace-up bikini top with matching high waisted bottoms, cropped rash guards, cut-out one pieces with intricate beading and a pair of drop crotch pants with a mash-up of three signature prints. In true Hoffman style it was all about the details. Nick Irwin, Global Creative Director of Catwalk by TIGI accessorized the end of Mara Hoffman’s signature braid with palms. Sarah Lucero, Stila’s lead makeup artist, created a fresh faced look, adding a pop of color using blue eyeliner. Completing the look was jewelry by Orly Genger by Jaclyn Mayer, customized Madison Harding wedges and matching nails by Vanity Projects.

DAY 3: MIKOH
California designers Oleema and Kalani Miller found a way to mix ultra sleek silhouettes and materials with a bohemian vibe. The on-trend leather-look fabrics and precise cuts, gave the collection a modern edge. The free-flowing hair and fresh make up contrasted the streamlined suits, giving it an unexpected boho modern feel.

Day: 3 L'Space - Tribal Mermaids
L’Space’s, “The Water Is Waiting” collection made its debut
down the runway at Cabana Grande in the Raleigh Hotel. The models wore unique jumbo pearl headbands and they were adorned with beautiful gold fish-scale flash tattoos. The collection featured
sheer cover-ups and two-pieces that could be worn
on and off the sand. The overall theme of the show was named "Siren
of the Sea" which was expertly executed in the "wet look" hair and make up. Cool lighting effects and floor decals transformed the runway into the sea so the models
appeared to be walking on water.
